Names and transliteration
A Russian name can appear in English in more than one spelling. When submitting your documents, provide the spelling already used in a passport or in the application you are preparing. Highlight differences between documents, including patronymics and previous surnames. This gives the translator context; it does not authorise changing information recorded in the source.
Certificates and civil records
Birth, marriage and other civil records may refer to earlier place names, issuing authorities or handwritten corrections. Submit all pages, including stamps on the reverse and any attached explanatory pages. Cropping a photograph to the main text can leave out information needed to understand or certify the translation.
Qualifications and supporting documents
For a diploma or academic record, include the transcript or supplement if it is part of your submission. Explain whether course names, grades and accompanying letters are needed. We translate the source information rather than converting qualifications into UK equivalents. For legal material, send the recipient’s instructions and describe the intended use.
Preparing a Russian translation request
Choose the language direction carefully and describe the document type in the quotation form. Russian to English and English to Russian are separate requests; availability and scope are confirmed for the chosen direction. Flag handwritten text, older documents or mixed-language pages so these can be assessed before a price and turnaround are agreed.
Review before payment
Simple standard documents may be quoted immediately. Longer records, handwriting or specialist subject matter can require manual review. Review the final price, delivery timing and certification requirements before paying. If you have a deadline, state the date and time at the quotation stage so that feasibility can be checked.
From enquiry to delivery
- Upload the material and explain its intended use and your deadline.
- Review the quotation, confirmed scope and turnaround.
- Approve and pay through the secure payment process.
- The translation is prepared and reviewed before secure delivery.
Frequently asked questions
Should I send my preferred English spelling?
Yes. Provide the spelling used in your existing official English-language documents and explain any differences. The translation must still reflect the original record.
Can you translate stamps and handwritten notes?
Include them in the upload for review. Their readability and complexity affect whether more information or a clearer copy is required.
